THE DUTIES OF PARENTS:
“Parents have the first responsibility for the education of their children. They bear witness to this responsibility first by creating a home where tenderness, forgiveness, respect, fidelity, and disinterested service are the rule. The home is well suited for education in the virtues. This requires an apprenticeship in self-denial, sound judgment, and self- mastery—the preconditions of all true freedom. Parents have a grave responsibility to give good example to their children.” The Catechism of the Catholic Church #2223.
To assist families with current events, we have a special page created that offers the Faith Formation weekly bulletin, calendar, resources, family virtue project and more. Click on the image to access this page!
At St. Michael we strive to accommodate all children. If you have a child with special needs please contact the Parish Catechetical Leader in order to develop an individual plan for your child.
OBJECTIVES
St. Michael Catholic Church provides a comprehensive catechetical program based on the Catechism of the Catholic Church, Scripture, Catholic teachings and traditions. Each grade level focuses on a specific theme, as well as Catholic prayers, Catholic vocabulary, and Mass responses. By the end of each year, students will have been exposed to and understand a variety of topics within their grade level theme. All learning is cumulative and students are expected to be familiar with the previous curriculum. The learning of our Catholic faith begins in the home at birth and continues for a life time. Children are expected to be enrolled in religious education classes through high-school. The reception of the sacraments is not the end to learning about the Catholic faith.
