The Mass Coordinator’s primary responsibility is to make sure that the various ministries of the Mass are ready before it starts. This allows the priest to have time for silent preparation and prayer 5 minutes before Mass.
 
The Mass coordinator should arrive at least 30 minutes before Mass and reviews Sign in Sheet names and verifies:

• Greeters are in place.
• Lectors are present and ready to proclaim the readings.
• Extraordinary Eucharistic Ministers are present.
• Head Usher has organized the ushers and ready; one will ring bell after the Lector’s welcome announcement.
• Confirm a family has been selected for the Offertory Gifts
• Provide the Deacon the number of hosts that the Choir will need
• If the parishioner that needs the Low Gluten Host is present at the 11:30 Mass and makes the Deacon aware.
• Sacristan has placed out all the liturgical supplies needed for the Mass. 
  • Offers help verifying quantity of hosts needed if the Deacon is not available.
  • Offers help with lighting the Altar candles if not being lit by 15 minutes prior to Mass.
• Altar servers are present and properly dressed. 
  • Prior to Mass, ensure the two Candle Bearers have retrieved the processional Altar candles before the blessing from Priest.

 
With any of these ministries, the Mass coordinator may assist the others in the preparation. The coordinator allows the other positions to take the initiative while offering assistance as needed.
 
An initial Training session led by an existing Mass Coordinator is required.
