Baptism for children that are 7 years or older Children that are of the age of 7 or older should be enrolled in the religious education program. This program will help prepare the child for the sacrament of baptism. The is currently a 1 year program.
Parents will need to provide a copy of the Birth Certificate that has been issued by the City in which the child has been registered.
The hospital registry is NOT valid documentation.
Parents & god parents should join their children / god children as they embark on this journey into Baptism.
Children Accepted Into The Roman Catholic Church Any child that has been baptized in another church that is not a Roman Catholic Church and is not recognized by the Roman Catholic Church must be admitted into the community by means of the process of initiation. Such as has been mentioned previously with the process for children.
Sponsors
Sponsors can be individuals older than 16 years of age, that have already received the sacraments of initiation (baptism, confirmation & communion) they must be practicing catholics.
Should the sponsors be married, the marriage must have been recognized by the Roman Catholic Church. Sponsors are required to make available a copy of the marriage certificate issued by the Church NOT a copy of the marriage license.
A single person can also serve as a sponsor. However, that person may not be living with someone in a common law relationship. Single sponsors will be asked to provide a copy of their Confirmation certificate.
Sponsors are required to take the pre-baptismal class; either in our parish community or in the one that they are currently registered. In the event, they attend the pre-baptismal class at another parish, proof of attendance will be required in form of a certificate with the parish seal. This will certify that they have participated in the preparation class for baptism.
For anyone wanting to sponsor a child that is currently enrolled in our RCIC program, must attend classes throughout the duration of that child’s formation. Including formation and attending Mass on a regular basis.
